As we close out the year, we look forward to what 2018 will bring in kitchen trends. What styles will carry over and what can we expect to see that’s completely new? There are always the classic styles that are timeless but incorporating elements of the newest trends can add personality and give your space that “wow” factor. Let’s take a look at some of the projections from several top industry gurus.

Contemporary - clean and simple lines make their way to the forefront of design for the next year and because of the simplicity, a bold color can complement the style beautifully. All shades of blue will be one of the most popular colors.

Industrial - heavier design incorporates more of a warehouse look but with warm textures and materials. Combining rich wood with smooth and sleeker cabinet lines keep this style from having a cold feeling

Rustic - reclaimed wood such as pecky cypress adds depth and character to cabinetry and has staying power. If you don’t want the entire kitchen in this beautiful wood, add an accent piece like the base of the island.

Minimalist - keeping it simple is always a great choice and the new trend is getting rid of the upper cabinets and opting to use that space for windows or floating shelves.

While these are all great options, keep in mind that the open floor-plan has become the most desired layout and because this exposes the kitchen to the living area, the style and color influences the entire space of your most utilized area so consider this and other design elements before you make a final decision.
